A Short-Duration Intensive Training Program in Social Science and Public Health Research Ethics to be held from Wed, June 26 to sun, June 30, 2019 at NCDS, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This program is intended to equip course participants with knowledge and skills in research ethics in social science and public health research. They would serve as a significant human resource to take the learnings to their own ecosystems and facilitate knowledge transfer in research ethics in their own organisations and their workplaces. 
The Case of the Spurious Drug Kingpin: Shifting Pills in Chennai

This lecture recounts the tale of a ‘spurious drugs kingpin’ and his scandalous business empire of re-labelling and recirculating expired medicines in Chennai. At the time the story broke, in the first half of 2010, questions of drugs safety dominated media headlines and public discussion. However, a closer investigation suggests a more complicated picture.

TThe lecture On Contemporary Issues in Health and Social Sciences is to be held on Sept 27, 2018 from 2.00 Pm to 4.00 Pm at K.E.M hospital, Mumbai. This lecture attempts to capture the nuances of the early narrative of these institutions and the people and the circumstances that made possible the establishment of the eminent educational institutions and hospital. The lecture will conclude with reflections on the current state of medical education, setting them against the inspired and dedicated work of pioneers in the field, both British and Indian who in their own way fought the might of the colonial interests.

Healing the Scars

Everyone is shaken and upset at the recent spate of sexual assault on children in different states of the country. The image of 8 year old Asifa and the masked face of the Unnao survivor are all over the Media. Whilst we protest and demand justice, we need to also consider another ongoing injustice – child sexual abuse. We need to hear these voices; we need to believe once again in the indomitable human spirit, of hope, courage and recovery. Please do come to the program 'Healing the Scars' organized by Akshara Centre and RAAHI.
